ADDICTIONS

Hello Friend,

Nothing is more desirable than to be released from an addiction. My heart cries out to God on your behalf. One thought that comforts me on my darkest of days is that the life we now live is not what God originally intended.

Think of it ... He created a perfect garden with all our needs being met and we were in a perfect relationship with Him. There was nothing between us and God! Oh, it makes me look forward to eternity with Him so much more.

I hope and pray that you take what I say to heart. Please listen carefully as I lay this out to you.

I was once in your shoes. Drug dependency was the one thing I knew would be a constant in my life. I hated it and it seemed that no one could help me out. Even when I prayed and asked God to help me, I seemed to be in a dark box and my words just bounced off the walls
I'm sure you have heard the verse in John 8:32 where Jesus says, "... know the Truth, and the truth shall set you free.

"

Can I ask you something? Do you feel trapped? Like you want to shake it off but it's a net that tangles around you and you can't seem to get free?

Well, most people who suffer from addiction, suffer because they have unknowingly given "it" (addiction) permission to.

Boy, does that sound strange!

There is part of a net that is tangled around you. I want you to do something. It's what I did a few years ago and it is the very reason I sit here today, writing this, and I'm a totally freed person from dependency. Totally Free!

Are you aware that God has an enemy? A spiritual enemy. I ask you this because some Christians aren't aware that there is. The enemy is the father of lies and he uses lies to trap us. Isn't that interesting? ... Jesus is truth and He will set us free. Hmmm? Makes you think.

Here's the deal. For every lie that the enemy has thrown your way and that you hold onto and think is true, you become more and more trapped.

God wants to set us free. If you were going into battle and you had a way of finding out what the enemy was up to, wouldn't you want to know what it is? You can find out so easily.

God wants to show you, If someone will help you with some of this, it would be very, very good. If not, that's okay. God is with you always.

You need to get a pen and paper and a nice quiet room. Make sure the phone isn't going to ring or anything. No distractions! It's time to pray. Have your Bible there with you in case He leads to you look something up.
(This isn't a hocus pocus thing. Please don't be afraid.)

Now, it's time to pray.
*Ask God for you to be able to focus on Him. *Confess that you've been dealing with addiction. *That you want to be delivered. *That the enemy has been telling you lies and you need to be set free from them.

(Now, this is the most important part)

*Ask in the name of Jesus, through His blood and the power of His resurrection to be shown the truth. To show you what the enemy has been slinging at you so that you can pray over it and be healed completely

Next, take your pen and paper and begin to write a letter. It's to yourself. (I know it sounds strange) So, your letter should begin like this:

Dear ______________

Your letter is not from you though. Your letter is from: addiction. Have addiction write to you.
Find out what it wants. Normally this would be a horribly scary thing to do, but doing it through the name of Jesus (who is TRUTH) you shall be set free!

Write the letter with no one in the room. You don't want any distractions. Only you and God. Honestly, the letter will flow from your hand to the paper. You will be surprised. It may say things like, your trapped, I can pull your strings whenever I want, I have complete control over you and your family, I will never let you go, etc.

After the letter is written, you'll need help personally. Have your partner read it over with you and pray over it again. Asking Jesus to let this be the turning point.

together, with your mate, underline everything that isn't true. The whole letter will contain mostly lies.

You will be taken back by it. Confess that You believed all of the lies staring at you from the paper but I know that it's time to hold fast to the truth instead.

Pray over each lie and asked God to release you from it. (What really amazed me was the scripture that would come to mind that proved each lie was indeed a lie!)

I'm not a big Bible memory buff but the Holy Spirit filled me with His Word and I began to feel like a different person!

I shed many tears over that letter and all the lies that I allowed into my heart.

I know that if you take the time to do this ... even though it seems a little uncomfortable to some people ... you too will be free. He who the Son sets free is FREE indeed!

God loves you and He is holding onto you. There is no such thing as earning His love. The worse thing you and I ever did to Him was nail Him to the cross.
He went there willingly to not only set us free from sin, but to make us a new creation.

Much love & prayers,
